TAMARA MURPHY
Double Bass
Tamara has been playing the double bass for over 11 years
and has studied with bassists Ben Robertson, Geoff Kluke, Gary Costello,
Andrew Moon and Mark Helias. After graduating from VCA in 1998, Tamara
has been performing in and around Melbourne with many musicians and ensembles
in addition to leading two groups "taser" and "Murphy's
Law." In 2001, Tamara toured with the Cologne New Philharmonic Chamber
Orchestra (Germany) throughout Australia and the UK and also travelled
to Hong Kong to perform there with saxophonist Anton Delecca for several
weeks. In 2003, on an Australian Arts Council grant, Tamara went to New
York City to study improvisation and composition with bassist Mark Helias.
Currently, she is teaching, performing and working on an up and coming
CD for "Murphy's Law" in Melbourne.
Recent corporate functions include performances for BMW,
IBM, Ford Motor Company and Channel 9 as well as a large number of private
functions
