NIGHT SKY Stella and The Night Sky
Take off into a twilight world of cabaret, where darkness and light collide.
This is a cabaret show of great pathos, musicianship and tall tales. It features the stories of French chanteuse Stella du Stella, of her hapless love affairs with men around the globe.
When her tram conductor parents are both electrocuted by a bolt of lightning during an unseasoned storm, Stella packs her bags and leaves France for a gypsy life of adventure and sometimes tragic dalliances.
When she discovers that speaking Franglais is a turn-on for an Australian shearer, Stella embarks upon a global tour of Flirtation, charting a course through the lands of Betrayal, Honeymoon Phase and Accidental Death.
Ever the optimist, Stella advises that fate will have its way in matters of the heart but one should always be a lady. If your lover gets trampled by an elephant, crying about it will just make your eyes puffy.
Through the desert dunes with Duke Ellington's "Caravan" into black holes where many a lost lerv resides (Tom Waits' " The part you throw Away") and riding the comet of seduction with the faux-French original "Joie De Vivre", this is a musical experience like no other. From swing to gypsy jazz, torch songs and tango, this voyage traverses a range of musical styles.
Accompanying Stella on this journey are the formidable musical talents of Nara Demasson (guitar), Christopher Schurmann (double bass), Dave Evans (accordion) and Renato Vacirca (drums).
