The Chamber Group is a true mixture of musical styles and influences.
The elegance and acoustic qualities of the classical ensemble are given
a new sound through the spontaneity of improvised jazz.
Fresh and inventive, the pieces flow seamlessly from the
composed into the improvised. A lively exchange of grooves and ideas between
the three
voices creates an evocative listening experience.
Charles MacInnes was trained as a classical trombonist and
became a principal player with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra
at the age of 19. He moved to Hamburg, Germany four years later and spent
the following decade working there as a jazz musician. He has performed
with Benny Golson, Clark Terry, Nils Landgren, Thomas Stanko, Herb Geller,
Lee Konitz, Mark Isham and Terry Bozzio.
The Chamber Group was formed in May 2003 and has plays in
Melbourne galleries and concert venues.
