CHRISTINE SULLIVAN

An interpretive vocalist, Christine Sullivan has blended many genres of music to produce a voice and style of unmatched clarity and beauty. This is reflected in the diversity of her performances which range from engagements at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London to the support act for Art Garfunkel at the Melbourne Concert Hall.

Christine performed with greats such as Chico Freeman and Brainstorm, as a lead vocalist with Danish Radio Jazz Orchestra. In 1992, Christine returned to Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club opening for Chucho Valdes and Irakere.

She was selected in 1998 by the Thelonious Monk Institute in Washington DC for the Jazz International Vocals Competition performing with Norman Simmons, Michael Bowie and Grady Tate. Panel included: Dianne Reeves, Sheila Jordan, Dianne Krall, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Joe Williams.

'What sets Sullivan apart is her capacity for theatre and beguiling interpretation. Here is a combination of originality and profundity, and an uncanny ability to reach levels of luminous - at times transcendent - expression'

Leon Gettler
